Itching for your pre-orders of Ford Focus Electric? Good news! The electric hatchback car is now in production mode and is being assembled on Ford’s Michigan plant.

The Focus Electric comes with a 23kWh battery pack that analysts say can power the car for around 70 miles. This is compared to the slightly inexpensive Nissan Leaf that runs up to 73 miles from its 24kWh battery, according to official tests.

Even though the Focus Electric is expected to roll out beginning January 2012, Ford has yet to reveal its price range.
